Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Civil Supervisor who can lead from the front. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out on site, working closely with crews, subbies and clients to deliver small-to-medium civil projects safey, efficiently and to a high standard. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day works, solving site issues on the spot, keeping the crew motivated to ensure jobs are finished to spec and on time.

Crossroads is a division of Hazell Bros. This position is located in the Civil team of Crossroads.

The ROLE

  • Runs the day-to-day operations on-site - setting out the work, allocating tasks, motivating the team and leading by example
  • Supervises and coordinates work crew(s) including subbies undertaking projects involving
    • Footpath and kerb construction
    • Small drainage and stormwater installation
    • Driveway crossovers
    • Carpark and road patching
    • Streetscape and landscape improvements
  • Reads plans, marks out works and checks levels to ensure the job is being built right first time
  • Manages deliveries, material quantities, people, plant and equipment needs to ensure projects have what they need when they need it
  • Identifies issues and assists in resolving by working with crew and/or the Manager to avoid uneccesary hold ups
  • Sets up and monitors site safety, environmental controls and traffic controls
  • Communicates with relevant stakeholders always with a solutions based focus
  • Keeps a site diary and tracks progress of projects daily including with photos
  • Ensures our jobs are tidy, safe and compliant every day

Desired Skills and Experience

About YOU 

 

  • Solid background in civil construction - ideally 5+ years in the industry including 2+ years supervising or leading teams
  • Strong working knowledge of
    • Concreting (formwork, finishing, footpaths and kerbs)
    • Pipe laying and trenches
    • Plant operation and earthworks
    • Traffic and pedestrian management in live environments
  • Can read and work from drawings
  • Good communicator - can talk with crews, clients and locals confidently
  • Reliable, calm under pressure and ability to get the job done with a safety focus
  • Comfortable using IT, completing forms and undertaking basic reporting
  • Experience working with or for local councils is a plus

Must haves

  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Current drivers licence

Desirables

  • Qualifications in Supervision or Leading Teams
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Traffic control or TMI
  • Confined space
  • Relevant plant operating tickets
