Job Description
About THE ROLE
You’ll assist in leading our tight-knit crew to achieve safe, efficient, and high‑performing outcomes. This role suits someone who can balance strong people leadership with operational delivery, keeping safety at the forefront while driving productivity and team performance.
Reporting directly to the Quarry Manager, you’ll be a key member of HBMI’s leadership team, contributing to operational planning, team leadership, and continuous improvement across the site. Your day-to-day may look something like:
Conducting daily pre-start meetings and reinforcing our Safety 1st Always Works culture
Overseeing and coordinating production activities to meet targets
Attending core operational quarry meetings, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
Liaising with internal Hazell Bros business units and external contractors to minimise mobile plant downtime
Maintaining accurate production and operational reporting
Ensuring our team members are all up-to-date with internal and external training requirements, VOC’s, etc
Leading from the front – there is nothing our employees do that management wouldn’t be expected to do
Desired Skills and Experience
About YOU
Demonstrated experience in hard rock quarry operations, mining and/or fixed and mobile plant operations
Strong knowledge of hard rock quarrying and crushing processes
Confident people leader who can engage, motivate, and hold teams accountable
Strong leadership attributes including ability to identify, manage, solve, delegate, and escalate issues proactively and as they arise
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and the ability to comply with site specific work requirements at all times
Committed to continuous improvement and driving positive site culture
Current manual drivers licence
